This beautiful and unique handmade book is crammed full of beautiful images, textures, silk.... I made this book from a large range of antique papers from Japanese books and handwriting. 
 
Many of the papers belonged to a Japanese architect and are from the 1950s. The pages came from books from the 1930s - 50s and have a lovely aged patina and a range of shades and textures.
 
The cover is made of a page that I think is poetry, that I have coated in encaustic wax to give a lacquer-like appearance. It has a spine made from antique silk.
 
This journal is full of wonderful textures, images and creativity. I have used a wide range of mixed media techniques to create this book, ready for you to write in or add your own art.
 
The book includes collage, stitch, drawing, painting, silk, thread, encaustic wax, leaf prints, dried flowers plus much more.  I’ve used lots of rice paper and other lightweight papers in places which give a really precious feel.
 
I've really enjoyed investing time into this piece and lots of truly vintage materials have gone into making this unique journal. 
It has 45 pages (90 sides) and is approximately 5.25 x 7.25 x 1.25 inches. (14 x 19 x 3cm).
