Original found photo assemblage artwork

This beautiful original assemblage artwork was created as part of the Artful Memories Challenge, where a new piece is made each day in response to a creative prompt. The inspiration for this piece was:
 
"Ewan, the Scottish blacksmith, forged the darkest blade'."
 
I combined an antique photograph with an old palette knife blade and rusted the whole artwork to look aged and metallic.  I placed some real Heather flowers on the blade, which will dry and fade in time. The artwork is presented in a vintage playing card box that I carefully adapted to complement the piece.
