How to use old photographs to make unique art

In this course, I teach several techniques for creating artworks using old photographs. You can use photographs that are personal to you, or use found photographs (I can provide images that can be downloaded and printed if you don’t have your own).

I will start by showing you a selection of my artworks and there will be time for your questions. I will then show you several different techniques and projects and you can choose whether you want to try them all or focus on a few and do the rest at home.

We will:

• explore ways of transferring photographic images onto a different surface

• alter photographs with paint, collage, and stitch

• alter a photograph using negative space

• weave photographs

• combine photographs with other objects.

At the end of the day, you will have a selection of artworks to take home and, more importantly, lots of ideas to explore further in your own time
